Effects of timing of nitrogen fertilizer application on responses by tropical grasses

Timing of nitrogen (N) fertilizer application can influence grass regrowth, so it is important to identify how tropical grasses respond delays in applying after defoliation. Our objective was the effects timing N harvest on productive, morphogenic and structural characteristics 3 grasses: ‘Xaraés’ (Urochloa brizantha [Hochst. ex A. Rich.] Stapf cv. Xaraés), ‘Marandu’ Marandu) ‘Tanzânia’ (Megathyrsus maximus [Jacq.] Tanzânia). The experiments were performed a greenhouse, completely randomized design, with 5 harvesting (0, 3, 6, 9 12 days). Delaying did not affect forage mass Xaraés Marandu palisade (7.4 7.8 g/pot, respectively). There linear decrease number leaves per tiller leaf appearance rate, but population density phyllochron increased linearly as delayed. Grass (12.2‒10.6 g/pot), (3.1‒2.6 leaves/tiller) accumulation rate (0.47 0.41 g DM/d) Tanzânia guinea decreased delayed, unaffected (25 tillers/pot). Based our results, should be applied pastures soon possible certainly before days, while there same urgency where fertilization could delayed up days without significant detriment. These suggestions need tested field study being recommended widely.
